We want to work alongside owners to create the perfect renewable energy machine, using only wind, water and solar energy to run the yacht and provide an exceptional experience of peace on board and exploration of the sea.
philippe briandBriand’s self-sufficient sailing yachts appeal to owners who wish to minimise their impact on the environment while cruising. The efficient hull form characteristics of Briand’s designs mean that more power could be harnessed through underwater turbines to charge the batteries on board.
Philippe Briand is also one of the “founding fathers“ of Water Revolution Foundation and is a member of the Board. Water Revolution aims to be the central platform facilitating the shift towards neutralisation of the ecological footprint of the yachting industry.
An example of Philippe Briand Sustainable Yacht Design is SY200, a 62 metre sailing yacht concept. This yacht is designed to emit zero emissions. It is fully wind-propelled with sails created to harness up to 2,000kW of power in optimal wind conditions. The combination of the high-performance hull design, the hydrodynamic efficiency, and the yacht’s turbines can provide power equivalent to a 500kW generator whilst cruising at 15 knots.
Philippe is passionate about leading a new wave of “green” sustainable superyacht design pushing the boundaries of technology and efficiency in superyachting.
